Leadership Succession Planning
Many student organizations suffer from a lack of leadership because members are not willing to take on officer roles, particularly that of Treasurer. To mitigate this natural condition, we established a succession plan, the default "promotion schedule" each academic year. Specifically, in preparation for the coming academic year, each winter, a new Treasurer is elected. The prior Treasurer becomes Secretary. The prior Secretary becomes Vice President. The prior Vice President becomes President. The prior President holds no office.
We ask officers to pledge they will follow this succession plan to the best of their abilities, or at the very least to recruit a person to back-fill their office whenever they leave.
Student Organization Training is mandatory for all Presidents and Treasurers every academic year (other officers and members are allowed to come if they register as well.) Those organizations that do not have a president and treasurer present will become inactive. This year’s training is Saturday, September 7th. All student organizations are asked to attend training from 10:30am-3:30pm, while all Club Sports are asked to attend training from 12:30-5:30pm. If you are involved in both a student organization and club sport, then we ask you to attend for the full duration of training. Please register to attend on GrizzOrgs.
